SmartHome - A better choice to insure your home and contents


SmartHome provides you with an All Risks cover to protect your home and household contents including personal liability anywhere in Thailand.

1. Homeowner All Risks
SmartHome covers loss or damage to your private dwelling house including walls, gates and fences thereof. In addition, it also provides the following extra covers:

* Cost of temporary accommodation incurred as a result of the insured private dwelling house being damaged and not fit for living.
* Loss of life to the insured or family member(s) incurred as a result of fire or robbery or gang robbery at the insured private dwelling house.
* Workmen’s compensation for domestic servants (excluding driver) incurred as a result of bodily injury or disease in the course of employment by the Insured.


2. Home Contents All Risks

SmartHome covers loss or damage to your home contents, personal effects of the Insured or family members incurred at the insured private dwelling house, including fixtures and fittings therein. In addition, it also provides the following extra covers:

* Loss of personal money (of the Insured or family members) incurred as a result of burglary with visible marks and robbery or gang robbery at the insured private dwelling house.
* Loss or damage to home contents during temporary removal (to and from) for cleaning, renovation, modification and repair within Thailand.
* Loss or damage to electrical appliances or installation from fire and lightning caused by overrunning, excessive-pressure, short circuiting, for instance.
* Loss or damage to the insured private dwelling house and contents by burglary with visible marks.

How to own land?


Under current legislation, a foreigner can not own land in Thailand. Land management is possible a number of different ownership structures. Here are the most common:

1. Manage through by the Thai company the most popular and safest options. You can own your company's shares 49% and the remaining 51% is usually divided into two Thai Shareholder.

2. The leasehold is one of the options used, but land authority currently accepts only a 30-year lease. In this option your investment is only secured for next 30 years. Under this option, you should very carefully and think what you are going to do to investment in the future, simply because the leasehold properties can be very difficult to sale.

Condo ownership


Foreign quota is limited to 49%, which means that the complex of the condominium 49% can be directly owned by foreigner and the remaining 51% must be in Thai or Thai Co. ownership. Ask more information from your realtor.
